  • Lifestyle Family Photo Shoot, Bluebell Woods, Romford

It was such a treat to spend a morning with these two crazy kids Esmé and Teddy and their lovely parents Suzie and Kieran. Suzie wanted a naturally beautiful location filled with flowers for their family session, and I knew the perfect spot! These woods in Romford are covered in Bluebells every April and I return there every year to capture some natural family memories with my clients. We spent an hour or so wandering around, the kids playing and enjoying themselves whilst I photographed them - mostly completely unaware as I allowed them space and they had no interest in the camera at all! haha This works perfectly in capturing those real expressions and emotions with children and we captured some beautiful family memories for Suzie and Kieran to cherish forever. Esmé and Teddy are little stars and it was an absolute pleasure to work with such a wonderful family. Thank you to Suzie and Kieran for having me! Here are just a few of my favourite moments from our family photo session together...

  • Family Photo Session at Home

I had a fantastic time photographing the lovely Denham family back in April. They kindly invited me to their home to take some natural family photos of them and their children as a gift to their own parents. There were 5 young children- all cousins, to work with! Which is potentially challenging haha. But the kids were awesome and I had a wonderful couple of hours working with them all and capturing their cheeky smiles and natural moments whilst playing in the garden. I just love documenting every day activities with families at their homes. It's so authentic and true to them and their memories which for me, is the most important aspect of photography and photographing children in particular. The kids clearly love playing in Nan and Granddads huge garden, with the swings and playhouse to enjoy. We let the kids run around and play as they would whilst I captured some cheeky and beautiful moments of them all. The adults soon relaxed too and we ended up capturing some beautiful candid moments between the family that even they were not aware of. The family now all have some wonderful photographic memories they can cherish forever- which is the best part of this job- documenting lifetime memories which mean so much to people. Thanks to all of the Denham family for being so welcoming and friendly. I had a blast working with you all and I hope I get to see you all again at some point in the future. To book a natural family photo shoot with me at your home, simply get in touch to check availability and we can get you booked in! My email is danielle@danielle-smith-photography.com or feel free to give me call on 07706251262. There is more information about family photo sessions here too.

  • Spring Wedding at Cooling Castle Barn in Rochester

I was so excited for Becca and Tom's wedding at the stunning Cooling Castle Barn in Rochester! After working there last year I couldn't wait to return! I am in love with the turrets and the gorgeous wedding ceremony room in the barn. It was a scorcher of a day in May and the perfect weather for such a gorgeous venue and gardens. Becca had the most stunning pastel coloured flowers created by Floral Explosion! The detail on her Ronald Joyce dress was just incredible and she looked simply stunning. I don't think Tom could quite believe his luck when she walked down the aisle. Becca and Tom met when they were young and both working in the Disney store. Since they are both avid Disney fans, it seemed only right to have a Disney themed wedding! They opted for the navy Disney colour with lots of sparkle and some Disney features on they cake and tables, which worked perfectly. It was such a fun filled, relaxed day, I know Becca and Tom had the most incredible time and obviously they ended it all with a fantastic Honeymoon to Disneyland Florida where Tom originally proposed! Here are some of my favourite moments from their wedding day... Becca Witherden ★★★★★ We recently had Danielle for our Wedding Photographer, having been recommended her from previous friends and clients. From the initial contact to our meetings before, to the big day and beyond Danielle was just fantastic! Every little detail was covered and nothing was too much trouble. It made our day so effortless and easy. I have had loads of people comment since the wedding how lovely and friendly Danielle was. The photo details are just amazing and she really captures the story of the day not just generic wedding shots. We cannot wait to work with her again for our future moments. The photographic memories she provides are just perfect. • Relaxed and Fun Bowls Club Wedding in East London

Probably the most chilled out wedding I have ever photographed! It was awesome! Julia and Roger wanted to keep it low-key with a small registry office ceremony and a great big party with loads of games and fun at their local Bowls Club afterwards. I absolutely loved the styling for this wedding. Julia looked stunning in her cute tea length dress with blue detailing, and loose up-do for her hair. Since there was limited space at the Bowls club for their couple portraits, we took a drive to Wanstead Park just round the corner and captured some gorgeous photos of the two of them there. This is also where Roger proposed to Julia so it was extra special! They had a huge BBQ buffet perfect for a summer outdoor wedding and everyone enjoyed bowls and garden games into the night. MOST FUN EVER! Also, how stunning are the wild flowers?!! • Chilled Out Gatsby Themed Garden Wedding

When Sarah said she wanted a Gatsby themed wedding, she really meant it! She went all out with the 1920's styling and it was truly awesome! Every single guest participated and dressed for the theme and it was incredible to see. The effort Sarah and Adam had gone to to make sure every little detail fitted the styling was immense! It really came together and I'm sure it was worth all the planning. I was stunned by Sarah's embellished dress and all the different bridesmaids dresses. Her headpiece by Melancholy Magpie is to die for!!! It is truly a work of art and really finished off Sarah's look. The wedding was at the stunning Mangapp Manor in Burnham-on-Crouch. The gardens there are always incredibly well kept and the ceremony over the lake is perfection. Sarah and Adam wanted it to be informal and fun with lots of food and drink and garden games. Adam being Turkish opted for a big Turkish grill style buffet and it was so DELICIOUS! And the cake! I've never seen anything like it- a Ferrero Rocher tower of gorgeousness!! Such a unique idea. How gorgeous is the table set-up?! Sarah opted for a teal colour to co-incide with her whole theme and the bridesmaids dresses, with lots of feathers and beading. It looks so glam! The 1920's flapper dancers for the first dance was the icing on cake! What a way to start the party! ] Venue: Mangapp Manor Dress: Phase Eight Shoes: Pink Paradox Head Piece: Melancholy Magpie Groomsmen Wear: Marks and Spencer Cake: Melanie Ferris Cakes Jazz Band: Sax and Honey Catering: Valentine Cuisine !920's Dancers: 1920s Girls

  • Kensington Gardens Pre-wedding Photography in Spring

I wanted to share this super gorgeous Spring pre-wedding photography session with you all. Amy and Josh wanted to have their pre-wedding photo shoot in Kensington Gardens in West London as they live very local to it. April is such a stunning time of year in the gardens. The blossom was out and the park looked gorgeous even though it was still a bit chilly! We went for a lovely walk around Kensington gardens chatting about the wedding on the way and stopping for a few photos here and there. We were all getting so excited for the wedding at Northbrook Park in a couple of weeks! Amy and Josh found it really useful in preparation for their photos on the wedding day. They felt confident and excited for their wedding photos after this pre-wedding session- which is exactly what it's for. Here's what Amy said afterwards: "Thank you so much for today, we both feel a lot more relaxed and confident that you will help make our day so special." If you would like to check out Amy and Josh's wedding photos from their stunning wedding at Northbrook Park in Farnham, Surrey- check out their blog post here. It was an EPIC day. Truly stunning and a great night followed. Thank you so much to Amy and Josh for being so awesome and having us share such an incredible day with you both. Now to complete the wedding photography edit!! Eek- next stop album designing. I love creating these story books that showcase the wedding day and I can't wait to create this for Amy and Josh's big day. I would love to share it with you all too once the design is complete and it's printed. They are stunning and Amy and Josh's wedding is going to look stunning in a hand-bound, printed book to keep forever and pass down to their children.

  • Logan's Newborn Lifestyle Photo Shoot, Colchester

I had such a wonderful time meeting this gorgeous Columbian family that live in Colchester. Eddy and Goyo welcomed their first newborn baby into the world and it was a pleasure to capture such a precious time in their lives. Logan is a little dream and was no trouble at all during his newborn photography session. He was so relaxed and did not make a fuss at all. His little squishy face is just too adorable for words! And his thick black hair is just perfection. Eddy and Goyo are two of the most kind and genuine people I have been lucky enough to meet in my job and Logan is one lucky little boy to have been born into such a loving environment. Thank you so much for having me guys! I cannot wait to hear more about your baby salsa classes in Colchester. Eddy and Goyo run Salsa lessons which are hugely popular in the area and they are planning some mother and baby dance classes too with the arrival of their little one. I am super exited to see what this involves and I wish you all them both all the best with it! Here are a few of my favourite moments from Logan's newborn lifestyle photo shoot at home...

  • George's Lifestyle Newborn Photo Shoot, Chelmsford

It was an absolute pleasure to photograph Natalie and James' newborn baby boy - George and big bro Henry. This family session took place at their home and was super relaxed and fun. Both boys behaved amazingly for me and we managed to capture some lovely memories for the family! Here are 6 tips to get the most out of your lifestyle newborn baby photo shoot: 1. Try and have the session within 10 days of birth of capture that brand new baby phase. Those squidgy little cheeks and tiny newborn body will disappear surprisingly quickly! 2. Keep the heat cranked up! Newborn babies cannot regulate their temperature like older children and adults. It's SO important to keep your house cosy and warm for them during this newborn photography session. You may feel very hot yourself, but bubba will be just perfect. It's the best way to keep them content and settled during the photoshoot. 3. Be prepared to have some photos taken with your new bundle. I completely understand that within the first few weeks of having your baby, you may not feel 100% and may not feel like having your photograph taken. But this is such a huge moment in your life and such a precious time to remember that I would really encourage you to have a one or two photos taken. I would never want any new mummy to regret not having at least one photo taken with her brand new baby. 4. Allow as much natural daylight into your home as possible. When I arrive at your home, I will be looking for the best sources of natural light to photograph your baby and the family altogether. Usually the best spots are the living area, the master bedroom and the nursery, so try and make sure these are bright and airy before I arrive. 5. Allow up to 2 hours for your newborn lifestyle photography session. Babies can be very unpredictable and need a lot of love and attention. It's important that we take the session at the pace your baby is happy with. If he/she needs changing/feeding during the session- there is plenty of time for this and baby's needs always come first. 6. Wear neutral clothing. It's important to wear something that you would normally wear everyday at home and feel comfortable in, as this newborn photography session is all about real life at home with your new baby. Neutral colours work best and try to select colours that coordinate rather than match, for all family members. Click here if you would like more information about lifestyle newborn photography sessions and feel free to contact me here. P.S. How cute are these two boys though?! Here are a few words from Natalie herself: "We absolutely Loved our photoshoot. It's such a special time after just welcoming a new baby into the world and Danielle captured our family perfectly. It can feel quite daunting allowing a stranger into your home just days after one of the biggest events of your life but Danielle made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable and the results were on the proof so to speak. We have beautiful pictures to treasure."

  • Pre-Wedding Photo Shoot in St James Park, London

This has to be one of my favourite pre-wedding photography shoots this year! Photographed back in April, Jack and Danni both work nearby St James Park in London and spend a lot of time there together so it seemed the perfect location for their pre-wedding session. It was bank holiday Friday and a beautiful warm day so it was crazy busy there, but we managed to work around it and captured some beautiful romantic moments for them to cherish forever. We even managed to get the London eye in there, some pigeons and a squirrel! haha The tulips are simply stunning in St James Park this time of year too. What an array of beautiful Spring colours! I LOVE photographing pre-wedding sessions in London parks because they are so well kept and usually a bit different. If you have some ideas for a London pre-wedding photography shoot in a park, I'd love to hear your ideas. I am excited to be photographing some couples at Richmond Park and Hampstead Heath soon too. • Bluebells Family Photo Shoot, Romford

Spring family photo shoots are my absolute fav! I return to this stunning location in Romford, Essex every April to capture the beautiful bluebells in full bloom. It's the perfect setting for romantic and timeless family photography sessions. I have photographed both Archie and Riley as newborn baby boys so it was lovely to photograph the two of them together again this year. Archie always takes a little warming up but after 10 minutes he's totally into it! They are the cutest brothers and I hope I get to photograph them again soon. This is how the Spring family/childrens mini-sessions work: - We meet at the location at the scheduled time of your session - We go for a walk around the woods and stop at nice locations for a few photos - The kids get to play and enjoy being outdoors for a bit - I photograph all the magic in that 30 minutes! Around a week after your session, I come to your home to show you the final edited images. You can then select which ones you would like to purchase. I can bring along with me some sample frames and canvases in case you would like to see what they look like. The images from these sessions usually work really well in multi frames. But there are other options such a mounted prints too. So if you haven't booked in for yours just yet, don't worry! There are more sessions taking place next week so just get in touch to book your slot. There is a limit of up to 3 people on these sessions because 30 minutes smily isn't enough time to capture more than this. But it's a great opportunity to update your family/ children's portraits this year. Don't miss the Spring beauty though! The bluebells are so magical!

  • Ellie and Glenn's Spring Wedding in Essex

This gorgeous Spring wedding in Essex kicked off at Ellie's home in Hornchurch, where she and her bridesmaids were getting ready. Ellie and Glenn went for a soft pink colour theme which complimented the season perfectly. I love the detailing on the bridesmaids dresses! Ellie met her groom, Glenn at St Andrews Church in Hornchurch wheres their guests watched them tie the knot. Ellie's face as she is walking back down the aisle hand in hand, with her new husband is absolutely priceless and one of my favourite wedding photographs of the whole year. It holds so much emotion and completely portrays her joy in a way that words never could. For me, this is what I live for and I'm so glad I was able to witness and capture this for this awesome couple. After the ceremony, Ellie and Glenn enjoyed their evening wedding reception at Ye Olde Plough Hose in Bulphan, Essex - a gorgeous barn wedding venue with gardens. I absolutely loved photographing this Spring wedding at Ye Old Plough as the grounds were covered in blossom trees which are absolutely stunning this time of year. It was a beautifully hot Spring day and the perfect setting for a barn and garden wedding. I loved how chilled this spring wedding was! Everyone was so friendly and genuinely had the best time celebrating the wedding of Ellie and Glenn. It was love and laughter filled with sunshine and blossom and it was perfect! Here are a few of my favourite photographs from the day... • Relaxed Garden and Marquee Wedding

Remember that weekend back in July when it didn't stop raining ALL DAY?? Well, that was the weekend Sophie and Jordan got married. But did it hinder their day? Absolutely not! Nothing was going to spoil it for these two. It was absolute perfection and a wedding day I will never forget. Sophie's Charlotte Balbier wedding dress was TO DIE FOR!! I absolutely love how delicate this gown is. The detail is absolutely stunning. And that veil! Absolute show stopper. All the family had gone to extreme lengths to create the perfect marquee wedding at Jordan's family home. The garden games didn't go to waste despite the weather! Umbrellas were out and everyone embraced the constant downpour. What I loved most about this laid back garden wedding, was the atmosphere all day. It was constant laughter and happiness and amazing to be a part of. When the party kicked off with the first dance and the confetti canons went off! I knew they were in for a good night...
