Wedding Cake Ideas

I LOVE cake. Eating it is a huge passion of mine haha. But also, I love how creative they are! I've seen so many awesome wedding cakes this year and I wanted to share some of the ideas for your own inspiration. Wedding planning can be such a mine field and selecting your cake design is just one tiny element to that. So hopefully this post will give you lots of wedding cake inspiration to make that job a bit easier for you!

Firstly, Metallic wedding cakes are HUGE at the moment. This rose gold three tier wedding cake is super trendy! I love the rustic feel with the modern metallic edge to it. And the pastel flowers are the finishing touch. This fantastic creation was crafted by Neighbourhood Bakes.

This semi-naked cake is so pretty! I love the gold drip effect, it's so in for 2018 and the bright, colourful flowers really finish it off.

This stunning creation was put together by Melanie Ferris Cakes.

Cupcakes are always a winner! These pretty pastel coloured cupcakes are so easy and cheap and with a bit of simple floral decoration really look the part and have that gorgeous rustic, homemade feel.

How beautiful is this pink and cream semi-naked wedding cake with meringue and popcorn detailing?! Such a simple but very different and creative idea. Plus it looks delicious! This one was actually created by the very talented bride herself! But I'm sure you could ask any experience wedding cake designer to make something similar for you.

DONUTS!! How can this not be a winner?! This Krispy Kreme wedding cake is simply awesome. The smell in the room was to die for! It filled the entire reception room and the guests couldn't wait to dig in.

Naked wedding cakes are also a winner. I love the blue flowers created out of icing on this one. You can have them decorated so that the entire thing is edible like this, or use real flowers and simply pick them off before serving.

This one was made by Karen's Cakes.

Here is an example of another naked wedding cake decorated with real flowers and fruits. This is an autumn inspired wedding cake and is perfect for that seasonal touch.

This naked cake is actually from Waitrose and has just been decorated by their florist, so it just goes to show, you don't have to spend a fortune to get a nice wedding cake too!

Who doesn't love a chocolate brownie?! Such a simple idea to have a stack of chocolate brownies as your wedding cake, decorated with icing sugar and fruit, and of course- a lego men topper. It's wedding cakes like these that you know will never go to waste!

These awesome wedding chocolate brownies were made by Fresh n Funky Catering.

A cheese board wedding cake is a savoury alternative to regular cake. Some people have both and some just go for the cheese! But cheese is always a winner after the wedding breakfast and this is the perfect way to display it.

This wedding cheese tower was created by Ellis Catering.

Ok another win for the donuts, but this time a donut wall for your wedding! This wall was handmade by the bride and grooms very helpful friends but you can also hire them if you don't fancy getting your hands dirty with the DIY. These are simple glazed ring donuts, but you could jazz i up with any donuts you like and again, the smell is so enticing!! A donut wall is a fun way of serving simple and delicious cake at your wedding.
